Question

People ask me all the time for song lists. Thanks to a helpful correspondent I finally figured out how to get a playlist into a text file. Getting it to this point was a non-trivial exercise. (Thank God I remember some visual basic.) But here it is, my 'Best' playlist. (That is, the best of the more than 3000 songs I have on my computer.) It is sorted by artist then song not by preference or the order in which I listen to it. There are also large multiples of duplicates in the original. (I think I've pulled them all out.) But this is my 'standard and normal' playlist. There are probably going to be some things on here that shock people.

Winterborn is by a group called Cruxshadows. For anyone who enjoys to even the slightest degree "electronica" and heavy metal sound, I strongly recommend Cruxshadows. Go listen to songs like "Winterborn" and "Citadel" and you'll understand why. I mean, the album Ethernaut is based on the Fall of Troy, what more can I say?

Into the Looking Glass playlist

John says: Okay, pretty obviously music is a major input on my writing.

Currently I'm working on the sequel to Into the Looking Glass and I'm trying to come up with a song list.

(Since the plot keeps slithering in my hands it's not surprising I'm having a hard time with the music list. When that's obvious the plot is solid.)

Space oriented music. Not "John William's Star Wars Soundtrack" but stuff like Vangelis "Albedo 0.39" or Holst's "The Planets." (Both included.) The only "soundtrack" music I'm including is Vangelis "Finale".

The sort of thing you'd want playing in the background if you were stumbling around the universe in a rickety, jury-rigged, POS looking for an enemy force that's your technical and numeric superior.
