When I read the review copy the thing that came to mind, oddly enough, was Flashman. Not because Rob shares Flashman's peccadillos, quite the opposite. But the book reminds me of one of those memoirs of the Victorian Era British 'officer for hire.' The fellow that after a time in the British Indian Army and being sent off to be 'Sergeant Whatsisname' eventually goes off and does it on his own. Generally for better pay. It has that same 'I have been dropped through the looking glass into a vicious, battling Wonderland and... having a wonderful time! Wish you were here!'
Robb's one of those guys who eats, lives and breathes war. He's never happier than when someone's trying to kill him for the uniform that he's wearing and every day is an adventure in spreading democracy and Western thought through the simple doctrine of 'if you have them by the balls, their hearts and minds will follow.'
Strongly recommended.
